George A. Davis, Jr.

George A. Davis, Jr., 82, passed away at his home on Friday, April 12, 2024. He was a native of Roanoke, VA, and had lived in Newport News, VA, for 81 years. George served in the army for three years before going to work as a Radiographer for Newport News Shipbuilding, where he retired after 36 years. He was a graduate of Newport News High School, class of 1959. George enjoyed working on cars, a trade he learned while serving in the Army. He also enjoyed building things and working on computers, but his favorite thing was spending time with his family.

George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Andrea V. Davis; father, George A. Davis, Sr.; and mother, Frances H. Davis.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon M. Jenkins; son, William A. Davis; two sisters, Pamela Sue Davis and Charlotte Jean Orecchio; one grandson, Cody Jayce Jenkins; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; his best friend, Scott Proctor, and furry companion, Lunar.

Visitation will take place on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. The burial will be at Peninsula Memorial Park following the service.

    Dear Jean. I only just saw this obituary of your brother Andy. I am greatly saddened by his passing. Our shared childhood was so long ago. Soon none of us will be left. I will try to write to you, but I’m not sure if you are still at the same address. Much love in any case. Pat Otterness
