Frank Vernon Sebra

Frank Vernon Sebra passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. He was born March 12, 1934, in Lancaster County, Virginia, to John and Cora Sebra. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Sebra, daughters Darlene Ewton (Danny) and Brenda Welch (Michael), and grandchildren Derek Welch(Amanda), Daniel Welch(Kristen), Courtney Ewton, and Collin Ewton. He has one great-grandson, Bennett Welch. He has one surviving sister, Thelma Rowe, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters and his mother and father.

Frank graduated from the Apprentice School Newport News Shipyard in  Newport News, VA, in 1954. He served in many capacities while there. He retired as general foreman after 42 years of service. He was a master mason in good standing and also a long-time member of the Apprentice Alumni Association.

He was an avid outdoorsman. Frank always had a boat and loved fishing and the water. He received several citations for the fish he caught. Frank loved to hunt back in Lancaster County and played golf in his younger years.

Frank and Shirley bought land and built a wonderful vacation home at Lake Gaston. They spent many years there with family and friends. Frank taught his children and grandchildren how to go boating, camping, fishing, and hunting. He also loved to read, hunt (up to his last year), and spend time with his family.

Those who knew Frank loved him and loved his stories.

The family will receive family and friends at a visitation at Peninsula Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A brief service will be held at the graveside at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
