Evelyn Eloise Darden Carr, 90, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Friday, January 14, 2022. She was a lifelong resident of Hampton, Virginia, and worked as a substitute teacher in the City of Hampton for many years.

Evelyn was truly a devoted servant of her Lord and Savior, serving in many capacities over the years, including her greatest joy of visiting the children’s home, jail visitation, mission trips, and so much more. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and a wonderful artist who could capture some of life’s amazing beauty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mildred Darden, and her brother, Thomas Darden. She is survived by her sister, Doris McClenney (Vernon); her sons Wayne Carr (Kelly) who lovingly cared for her in their home for her final 2 years of life, Mark Carr (Trisha), Hunter Carr (Kristi), and Gary Carr; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nephews.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, in the chapel at Liberty Live Church in Hampton at 5:00 pm. The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.
