Elenora Ward Powers, 103, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at The Chesapeake in Newport News, her home for the past 33 years. “Nora” was born on February 12, 1921. She graduated from Newport News High School, worked at the phone company, and became a stay-at-home mom in 1946.

Nora was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert F. Powers; her parents; a granddaughter, Courtney Powers; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Becker Powers.

She enjoyed many trips to Europe, cruising and traveling the United States, and loved to cook. Nora was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, VA.

Nora left behind her only child, Robert “Bob” F. Powers, Jr., and his wife, Teresa Wright Powers of Greenup, KY; granddaughter Whitney Powers Miller and her husband, Donnie Miller of Ashland, KY; grandson Robert R.B. Powers of Portland, TN; and five great-grandchildren, Jason and Tanner Davis, Courtney Miller, Sydney Wright Powers, and Caitlin Wright Powers, all of Ashland, KY.

A private burial will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park.
