Dorothy Lee McCormick Newton, 96, of Newport News passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021 with her three children by her side. She was the daughter of John and Bessie McCormick. For over 60 years, she was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church. She loved traveling with friends including trips to Israel and Hawaii. She also enjoyed growing and sharing fresh vegetables from her family’s garden.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charles E. Newton and her two brothers, Acree and John McCormick. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Reynolds (preceded in death by Steve) and Debbie Kincaid (Nick), and son, Chuck Newton (Tina). She was “Gran” to Stacy (John), Anthony (Sarah), Michelle (Jaime), Candice and Alana, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Elsie Jones (Joe) and June Taylor (Joe), and three sisters-in-law, Peggy Ragans (Mac), Linda Cole and Faye Newton Satterfield.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News. Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Memorial donations may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 7409 River Road, Newport News, VA 23607.
