Diane S. Heard, 78,  a lifelong resident of Newport News, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Diane was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church where she had been active in helping with the nursery for many years. She had participated in the Special Olympics for over 10 years in the swimming division and loved to go bowling with her family.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Mabel and Richard Heard; and her brothers Randy and Tom Heard.

Diane loved all her nieces and nephews that survive her, Kim Merrill, Tracy Waible and her husband Jon, David Heard, and his wife Sheril and Rick Heard, and his with Chesleigh. Also surviving are great nieces and nephews, Morgan Merrill, Scarlet Heard, Vivian Waible, Chad Merrill and Rylan Heard; great great nieces and nephews, Mason, Rylan, Malayna and Grayden.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Parklawn Memorial Park.
