David Michael Faison, 77, a lifelong Peninsula resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, after a ten-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. David was a graduate of Hampton High School, Class of 1966. His love of the water stemmed from his childhood home on Wythe Creek in Hampton.  His joys in life were his wife and daughter and his devotion to the Lord. He was a member of Deer Park Baptist Church for many years. David was a self-taught woodworker, builder, and mechanic. His love of cars continued after retirement, where he could be found rebuilding his 1932 Ford coupe. David was an avid photographer and owned his own business in the late 1970s.

David retired from the City of Newport News after 40 years of service as a pioneer for Elevator Safety. His inspection tags could be seen throughout the City for a generation. David was described as a humble man with integrity. His desire was always to make those around him laugh. He often played pranks on his coworkers, friends, and family. The laughter and sparkle in his eyes will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joshua Faison and Annie Hines Faison, his brother, Robert Eugene Faison, and his loving wife of 46 years, Sarah Burge Faison. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Natalie Faison Harris; grandsons Brayden Joshua Harris and Corbin Phillip Harris; nephews and nieces; and many friends and colleagues.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 28, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August  29, 2024, at the funeral home, and the interment will follow directly at Peninsula Memorial Park.
