Constance Virginia Cutler Williams

December 28, 1939 – August 25, 2024

Connie Williams, a longtime resident of Newport News, Hampton, and Tabb, died peacefully on August 25 at the age of 84. She is survived by her three sons, Todd (Susan) of Canonsburg, PA, Keith (Karen) of Williamsburg, VA, and Brad (Jennifer) of Chantilly, VA; her seven grandchildren, Kelsea (Bradley), Kyndall (Kayla), Reid (Jeddah), Devin, Rylee, Emery, and Wesley; her three great-grandchildren Bobby (Bo), Tallin, and Leni Rae; and her three brothers, Ronnie, Larry, and David Cutler all of Hampton Roads.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Williams, and her parents, Virginia Lee Cutler Wilson and Elmer Hearn Cutler.

Connie was born on December 28, 1939, in Accomack County, VA, moved to Newport News as a child, and graduated from Warwick High School in 1958. She married Bobby Raymond Williams in 1964 and, through herculean-like effort, raised three somewhat capable and decent boys. ‘Miss Connie’, as she was known to students, was a beloved substitute teacher at Tabb High School for 12 years before moving into real estate sales in 1988, where she won the Peninsula Rookie of the Year award and has a box full of Gold Awards from the Peninsula Association of Realtors. Connie loved sports and found her greatest pleasure watching and loudly cheering her sons and grandchildren in sports. As a Booster Club leader, it is rumored she was one of the original 2 AM Tiger Paw painters on roads throughout her beloved community of Tabb in the 1980s. Connie also loved to travel and dance, dance, and dance. If music was playing, Connie was sure to be singing and dancing, and most often with her brother Ronnie. Connie brought energy and a smile to every room she entered, choosing throughout life to make others smile and enlighten their day.

A funeral service will be conducted on September 7, 1:30 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church in Tabb, VA.  A viewing and meeting with the family will be held prior to the service, 12:00 – 1:30. A burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Connie and are encouraged to wear color as Connie loves colorful outfits.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to THRIVE Peninsula, Attn: In Memory of Connie Williams, and support local churches in providing a food pantry, shoes, cleaning supplies, and toiletries to struggling families.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd. Newport News, VA 23601. www.peninsulafuneralhome.com/obituaries

Connie was so much fun to be around. I really enjoyed all the bus trips I took with her brother Ronnie and Connie. They were the life of the party, especially while riding the bus!

My sincere condolences to the family. Connie was one of my first new friends after moving to Hampton VA as a big 7th grader. Connie was one of the “in” crowd at school. We continued to be friends all through highschool and later she married one of my husband’s friends. Connie was always smiling and happy. May she rest in peace.
