Allen Massie Kirby

Allen Massie Kirby

On Friday, February 19, 2021, Allen Massie Kirby, loving husband, and father of three entered into his eternal rest. Allen was born July 3, 1943, in Newport News, VA. He was a pioneer in the Cablevision industry, building systems throughout the world. He loved to teach, and he mentored thousands throughout his career. He was a master diver, instructing and diving with a team of police and firefighters in the 1970s. He loved hunting and fishing, but his greatest pride was his family. Allen never met a stranger and you always knew when he was in the room. His laugh was infectious. When not working or playing he could be found raising money for children through the Shriners.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Samuel Kirby, Sr., mother, Dorothy Crandol Carter, stepfather, Percy Carter, brothers Joseph Samuel Kirby, Jr. and William David Kirby, and stepson, Kristin True. He is survived by his loving wife, LeeAnn Kirby, son, Allen “Dell” Kirby (Dana), daughters, Kelly Carr (Wayne) and Robyn Latimer (Art), stepchildren Shawn Rousseau (Mike), Nicole Moten (Phillips), Timothy True, and brother, SgtMaj Ronald Kirby, Sr. USMC Ret. (Cristina), 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
