Donald R. Bunner

With love and heavy hearts, we remember Donald R. Bunner, who passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, at the age of 96. Born on January 25, 1930, in Zanesville, Ohio, Donald lived a long life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, dedicating an important part of his life to military service. Following his years of service, he continued to value the things that brought him happiness and contentment. He enjoyed the excitement of auto racing, watching a good football game, fresh seafood, and, above all, the comfort and peace of a simple life.

Donald was preceded in death by those he loved dearly: his father, John Bunner; his mother, Mabel Bunner; his beloved wife, Jeanette Bunner; and his dear daughter, April Bunner. He leaves behind his cherished son, Ron Bunner, who will carry forward the memories of his father and the life they shared.

Donald’s 96 years were a testament to a life well lived, from his beginnings in Ohio and West Virginia to his years of service and the quieter moments he treasured later in life. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by those who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11. Following the service, Donald will be laid to rest at Peninsula Memorial Park with military honors, in recognition of his 20 years of dedicated service to our country.
