Sandra “Sandy” Thompson Wilson went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2026. She
was born on January 8, 1947, to her now deceased parents, Lula and Gene Thompson
in Hampton, Va.
Sandra attended Hampton High School and was a proud Hampton Crabber
cheerleader. After graduating in 1965, she joined the civil service at Fort Monroe where
she dedicated herself to over 40 years of service.
Sandra is preceded in death by her son, Adam Phillip Wilson, and her brother Elvin
Eugene Thompson, Jr. (Betty). She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Bobola (Bob),
Linda Johnson (Jimmy) and Janice Ashe (Donnie); her children Kelli Fountain (Jon),
Shannon Verstynen (Brian) and Eric Wilson; and her grandchildren Kayla, Olivia, Amber
and Megan.
Visitation will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home located at 11144 Warwick Blvd. in
Newport News, Va. on Friday, November 6th at 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin
at 2 p.m. with the graveside burial at 3 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
