It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly Ann Rogers, 51, on October 30, 2026. Kimberly was born on April 22, 1975, and raised in Yorktown, Virginia, where she graduated from Tabb High School. Following high school, she pursued her passion for caring for others and earned her nursing degree.

Kimberly spent more than 25 years at Sentara Care Plex Hospital as a Cardiology Nurse. Caring for others was something she did with dedication and heart, and over the years she touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers. Her career was an important part of her life, and the relationships she built along the way meant so much.

When Kimberly wasn’t working, she was happiest enjoying the things she loved most. She loved being outdoors, whether it was spending time in the mountains listening to the birds or walking along the beach, taking in the smell of the salt air. Some of her favorite days were the quiet ones at home, with a good book and her dogs beside her while she enjoyed sitting on the porch. You could always be sure her lawn was in pristine condition because she never wanted her dad to drive by and fuss if the grass was too long or the mulch wasn’t just right. Even after her dad passed, she made sure to maintain in the yard just how he expected in his memory.

If you knew Kimberly, you knew she loved decorating for the seasons and holidays. She was always one of the first on the street to have her porch decorated, making sure each season had its own special touch. And that love of decorating didn’t stop at home! At work, she was known for being a fierce competitor when it came to the holiday door decorating contests. She took those contests seriously, and more often than not, she walked away with first place!

Kimberly also had a special way of making the holidays memorable. If you ever received a Christmas gift from her, you knew it would be wrapped beautifully, with plenty of tape, gorgeous bows and ribbons, and lots of love tucked into every detail. And then there was her homemade banana pudding. Thanksgiving just won’t be the same without it. It’s those little traditions, the familiar things she did year after year, that will be missed more than words can express.

Kimberly was preceded in death by her parents, Ronnie and Judy Thomas.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Kevin Rogers and Kyle Rogers; her fiancé, Andrew Kozlowicz; her brother, Brad Thomas (Sharon); and her nephews, Wyatt Thomas and Dylan Thomas.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia 23601. Funeral services will be private.
