Patricia V. Maciejewski, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 in Newport News, VA.
Patricia was born in Glendale, California, on July 4, 1938, to Mildred Van Orden and John Post Van Orden. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Hampton, Virginia, where she grew up and graduated from Hampton High School. She was a resident of Newport News for more than 40 years and built a life centered around family, faith, friendship, and service to others.
Patricia retired from Dominion Energy following a 45-year career with the company. She spent much of her career at Surry Power Station, where she served as a Human Resources Generalist. Her dedication, loyalty, and commitment to her work were hallmarks of her professional life.
She was a devoted member of Deer Park Fellowship Church in Newport News, VA where she enjoyed singing in the choir, sharing fellowship with the congregation, and assisting with the church’s accounting. She cherished the friendships and sense of community she found through her church family.
Above all, Patricia loved her family. She enjoyed baking and cooking for those she loved, game nights, and simply spending time together. She had a special gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, and she loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Her family will remember not only the meals she prepared and the memories they shared, but also the warmth, laughter, and love she brought into their lives.
Patricia was also a devoted dog lover and cherished her two Labrador retrievers, Georgia and Bandit.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Van Orden and John Post Van Orden; her sister, Judy Childress; and her brother, David Van Orden.
She is survived by her son, Andy Maciejewski, and his wife, Janelle, of Newport News, VA; stepson, John Maciejewski, of Jacksonville, FL; her daughter-in-law, Susete Maciejewski, of Attleboro, MA; her grandchildren, Mikayla Maciejewski, of Attleboro, MA; Sophia Maciejewski, of Attleboro, MA; Mckinley Maciejewski, of Newport News, VA and Cole Maciejewski, of Newport News, VA and her great-granddaughter Hazel Ferland, of Attleboro, MA.
Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on in the many lives she touched. A celebration of life service will be held August 15, 2026 at 11am at Deer Park Fellowship Church in Newport News, VA.

To know Pat was to love her, like at hello! . She had a lovely way of making you feel welcome and she made you feel heard, she really listened.
My son would always say she was like his second mother, and then when I met her, I completely understood.
What a gift she was to her family and her friends. I will miss her. 🌷
