Bryan L. Saunders, 81, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026. He was born in Newport News, Virginia, and lived in Yorktown for the past 30 years. Bryan served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee, and worked as a defense attorney for 53 years.
Although his time has ended, Bryan’s legacy lives on in the strength he showed and the many lives he touched.
Bryan was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Saunders, and his parents, Raymond and Lois Saunders. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Saunders; his son, Justin Saunders; his three grandchildren, Seth Shelton, William Shelton, and Conner Shelton; and his sister, Cynthia Saunders.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

I only met Bryan once but he was quite unique. Cindy adored him. I pray for peace and comfort to find there way to you soon.
