On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Heaven gained a rowdy angel by the name of Dean Scott Gregory. Dean passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of the Hampton Roads area, he was born to parents Gerald and Carol Gregory.
Dean graduated from Menchville High School in 1986 and from Virginia Tech in 1990. He then became a Professional Civil Engineer for NAVFAC, and after 34 years of diligent service, he retired from federal service and became a government contractor in that very same office. On November 18, 1995, he married the love of his life, Lisa Anne Phillips (now Lisa Anne Gregory), and they had two children: Darrin Robert Gregory (2000) and Abigail Caroline Gregory (2004). Whether he was watching his favorite sports teams, doing projects around the house, or relaxing by the firepit, Dean was always the life of the party wherever he went.
Dean was predeceased by his mother, Carol Gregory, and his Uncle Robert Johnson. He is survived by his father, Gerald Gregory; his wife, Lisa Gregory; his two children, Darrin and Abigail Gregory; his sister, Tamera Tresemer, and her husband, James Tresemer; and their two children, Shaun and Avery Tresemer.
Dean’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 30th, at 2:00 pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown, Virginia. Afterward, a reception at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to The American Cancer Society.
Dean was a doting husband, loving father, loyal friend, and overall an incredible man. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
