Mary Anne Guerin (nee Creighton), 78, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Mary Anne was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and subsequently earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Loyola University Chicago. It was there that she met William (Bill) Guerin, who would become her husband of 54 years.
After graduation, Mary Anne worked as a contact representative for the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board. Bill and Mary Anne moved to Newport News, Virginia, in 1978, and Mary Anne focused on raising her family, volunteering, and teaching in various elementary schools in the years that followed. She returned to her position at the Board in 1989 and subsequently retired in 2008. In 2019, Bill and Mary Anne moved to Colonial Heritage in Williamsburg, Virginia, where Mary Anne enjoyed various activities, including book and wine clubs.
Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anne Creighton, her siblings, Kathleen Paulsen, James Creighton, and Richard Creighton, and her husband, Bill. She is survived by her siblings, Eileen Siegler, Robert Creighton, and John C. Creighton, and her children, Amy and Bill. She also leaves behind cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors that were part of her extended family.
The family will hold a private memorial and inurnment at a later date. In memory of Mary Anne, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
