Douglas Michael Reynolds of Newport News passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025. A native of Danville, Virginia, he had lived on the Peninsula since 1944. Mike retired from Newport News Shipbuilding as a designer and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Back in the day, he loved nothing more than riding his jet ski.He also took such pride in all his grandchildren’s accomplishments. Their achievements were his greatest joy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Norris Reynolds; parents, Otis E. Reynolds, Sr., and Helen Warren Reynolds; and brother, Otis E. Reynolds Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Kris O’Reilly, and her husband, Jim; his son, David Reynolds, and his wife, Regina; and his grandchildren, Sara, Matthew, Bradley, Brandon, Summer, Sarah, Colby, Nicholas, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Connor, Mason, Tanner, Grayson, and Saylor; sister, Andra Altman; and brother, Melvin Reynolds.
The family will receive friends Monday, December 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m. in Peninsula Memorial Park.
