Linda Call Smith

Linda Call Smith, 72, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in Newport News. A native of Newport News, Linda later became a resident of Gloucester. She was a retired counselor from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Linda earned a B.A. in Psychology from Christopher Newport College and went on to receive her master’s degree in counselling from Regent University.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Warren Walker, Mary Foster Walker, and her first husband, Bruce Wayne Call. She is survived by her three sons, Bruce Call, Joshua Smith, and James Smith, and his wife, Missy; seven grandchildren, Cabot Call, Hayden Call, Blake Call, Caroline Call, Hadley Smith, Lily Smith, and Chase Smith; and one great-grandchild, Noah Adams.

Linda was a single parent raising three challenging boys! She leaves a tremendous legacy of love, perseverance, and support for her family. She will be missed immensely; her legacy will live on in her children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, November 12, at 1:00 p.m., at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia.

    Your mom sounds like she was amazing James. I only knew her as a kid but I do remember she was always kind to me when we played. You and your family are in my thoughts. My brothers and I and our families sent flowers to remember your mom.
