Shirley Lee Davenport Sebra

Shirley Lee Davenport Sebra died on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 87.

She was born on August 29,1937 in Lively, Virginia to parents Marvin and Margaret Davenport. She was raised in Lancaster County, Virginia.

She graduated from Lively High School, where she met her husband, Franklin Sebra. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, and she played piano there for many years. After graduation, she married Frank Sebra. They were married for 70 years. She completed her education in Richmond, Virginia, and then relocated to Newport News.

Shirley worked in various roles for Victor Management. After retirement, she became a Mary Kay Consultant. She loved gardening and reading.

Frank and Shirley raised their daughters in Newport News. They spent many years camping and boating, and eventually bought a place at Lake Gaston. They spent many years there with family and friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother Robert. She leaves behind her daughters Darlene (Danny) Ewton and Brenda (Michael) Welch; her adored grandchildren, Courtney and Collin Ewton, Derek (Amanda) Welch, and Daniel (Kristen) Welch; and a great-grandchild, Bennett Welch.

There will be a visitation at Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, from 11:30 to 12:30, followed by a graveside service at Peninsula Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Natasha Thornton and Tiffany Clarke for their kindness and support. Special thanks to Nikki Dame, a hospice nurse, for her knowledge and support.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
