Edward Francis (Papa) Burton left this world on Sunday, July 6, 2025, to be with his beloved wife, Mona. He left a loving family behind: his daughter, Cathy Horrell, and her husband, Larry; his son, Edward F. Burton, Jr., and his wife, Debbie; and two
granddaughters, Rebecca Segall and her husband, Craig, and Jessica Jones and her husband, Robby.
He proudly enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II.
He then worked for Dominion Power for 41 Years.
Always a family man first, he went on to be our anchor for many wonderful years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Peninsula Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 18, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, with burial following at Peninsula Memorial Park.

My heart was shattered to pieces when papa passed he was the sweetest and gentle little man anyone could have ever met. We had a special bond I was his caregiver and he was definitely the best patient I’ve had in a very long time he was the bread and I was the peanut butter…He had a special side to him when it came to people that he loved and trusted.. Very humble and nice never had nothing bad to say about anyone and that smile was infectious gonna miss him saying love you Honey!! To know him was to love him Rest In Peace.. I will never forget about you..
