Eula Cole Davis

Eula Cole Davis, 93, longtime resident of Newport News passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Davis; her parents, Beatrice and Vester E. Cole of Hampton; her two sisters Dorothy Williams of Hampton and Thelma Vaughan of Newport News. Eula also had a host of nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Eula retired from a long career with the US Army Training Command (TRADOC) at Ft. Monroe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newport News and was a member of the King’s Daughters Sunday School Class. For several years Eula was a member of Parkview Baptist Church of which she taught Sunday School, was the director of Sunday School and sang in the choir. After her retirement from civil service, she volunteered for the local chapter of the Republican National Committee. She also enjoyed traveling.

In her later years she was a resident of The Chesapeake retirement home in Newport News. Eula greatly loved her family, children and animals. She also spent many happy hours in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of The Chesapeake who took such good care of Eula. She was very grateful for their care. The family would especially like to thank Marie Friedel, a CNA who had such a special relationship with Eula.

A Viewing will take place at the Peninsula Funeral Home located at 11144 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, on Wednesday, April 30,2025, from 9:30 -10:30 am. A graveside service will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery located at 12750 Warwick Blvd, Newport News at 11:00 am.
