Roy L. Hayes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Roy L. Hayes, born on August 9, 1942, entered Heaven on Friday, February 7, 2025.

He was a devoted husband to his wife of 62 years, Peggy L. Hayes. Together, they built a loving family that includes their three sons, Danny (Tab), Walt (Katrina), and David. Roy was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, Jessica (Stephen), Sarah, Wayne, Jacob (Molly), Emily, Hayden, and Dayze, and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, RC and Brody. He is survived by two sisters, Jeanette and Sue (Vernon).

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Minter Dell Hayes and Sarah Farbie Clark Hayes, as well as four brothers and two sisters.

Roy retired in 2005 from Art Newsome Inc. as a sheet metal mechanic and commercial HVAC installer. Roy was regularly attending services at Grace Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia with his family.

He was deeply cherished by all who knew him and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandpa, and papa. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with the graveside service following at Peninsula Memorial Park.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. Roy was a great man and loved his family. He checked on me after the loss of my husband and the illness I’m going through. He will be greatly missed by all.
