Richard N. Smith of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 62. Richard (“Smitty”) enjoyed his career as a mechanic, especially his job building fishing yachts. It would be challenging to find something that Smitty could not fix or build. In his free time, Smitty loved to golf, boat, and fish. Smitty will be remembered for the kindness he showed to his neighbors, as he would often move onto his neighbors’ lawns after he finished mowing his own.
Smitty was preceded in death by his mother, Betty W. Smith; his father, Walter P. Smith; his sister, Suzanne Smith; and his son, Shawn Smith. Smitty is survived by his wife, Leslie Smith; his son, Richard N. Smith, Jr.; his stepchildren, Gary Stevens, Elizabeth Stevens, and Daniel Stevens; his grandchildren, Betty P. Smith, Abigail Smith, Ashton Quinn, Daniel Stevens Jr., Avery Stevens, Bella Stevens, Emma Silva, and Jamison Silva; and his brother, Russell Smith.
