Thomas R. Calano, 97, was born August 31, 1927, in East Hartford, Connecticut. He passed quietly on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Walter Reed Convalescent Home.
Thomas Joined the military on November 1, 1945, and served in World War II, Korea in 1951, and Vietnam in 1965. He enjoyed many hobbies after retiring from the military, including fishing, arrowhead and bottle hunting and collecting, metal detecting, sports card collecting, and military collectibles.
Thomas always supported his family in their sporting activities and was at as many events as he was able to attend. The family enjoyed fishing with him, and that fishing bug has now been passed down to four generations.
Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Lola M. Calano. He is survived by three sons, Thomas, Mark, and James; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim (Arizona); and sister, Terry (Florida).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with a memorial service following at 2:00 p.m.
