Virginia Modean Stoll

Virginia Modean ‘Gini’ Stoll nee Liles, 92, passed away on 12 October 2024 at 2:48 PM. She is survived by her two sons, Wayne and Timothy, and predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harold Stoll, and her beloved daughter, Memri Wells. Gini was born to George and Virgie Liles on 5 July 1932 into a large and growing Light, Arkansas family with three sisters and two brothers. Her parents were hard-working farmers, and they instilled in her a love for God, her country, and her family, and she wore these passions proudly and fiercely until her death.

Gini lived a long and memorable life, and this space is inadequate to the task of describing it or her. An inveterate explorer, she traveled to many exotic locations, encompassing half of the globe. Always vivacious and ready with a smile, Gini met with, laughed with, and broke bread with an incredible variety of people and took part in countless events. Whether watching the first Atlas rockets lift off, celebrating the Ryukyu New Year, fleeing a Philippine volcano, or strolling leisurely along the Seine, Gini lived and loved life as few have.

But the jewel of Gini’s life, her touchstone, was always her family. Gini loved, guided, and nurtured her family through good times and bad, never faltering or breaking faith, always ready to encourage or embrace her children, and always the glue that kept her family united no matter the distances involved. We cannot number the times she has been there for us. And for that and for so much more, we loved her and love her still. She was our Mother, our Grandmother, our Great Grandmother.

We miss you, Mom. We miss you, Nana.
