June M. Arthur, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, June spent the last 65 years of her life in Newport News, where she devoted herself to her family. A proud homemaker, June found her greatest joy in raising her son and living a life guided by her deep faith.

June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin J. Arthur; her son, Melvin D. Arthur; her parents; and six siblings, all of whom she cherished.  She leaves behind her sister, Sue Cole; two grandchildren, Aaron Arthur and Brandon Arthur; and her dear nephew, Carl Arthur. June was also loved by several nieces, nephews, and many friends, including her close friend, Gene Columbia. Cindy Mellish and Julia Wargo, dedicated hospice nurses from Gentiva Hospice, provided great comfort to June and her family is forever grateful.

June had a love for country music, and those who knew her will always remember her for her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith.
A graveside service to honor June’s life will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
