On Monday, August 5, 2024, our heavenly Father sent his angels for Faye Marr Taylor and carried her to be with the Lord to join her husband, Joe.

Faye was born on April 8, 1939, in Hampton, Virginia. She graduated from Hampton High School and retired from the Department of Health and Human Services in Rockville, Maryland, in 1990. Faye also worked in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for Blue Cross and Blue Shield for seven years. She also retired from the York County Transportation Department as a bus assistant to special needs students, after 13 years of service, which she enjoyed immensely. She always told of the rewards she received by seeing the children’s progress from the first year to the end of the school year.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edna Marr; brothers, Douglas, Charles, Kenneth and David Marr; and beloved husband of 48 years, Joe Taylor.

Faye is survived by two very special children and their spouses: son Joe H. Taylor, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Newport News, VA; daughter Sharon Jane Tata and her husband Peter Tata of Gloucester Point, VA; six amazing grandchildren Kyle and Camille of Chesapeake, VA, Natalie Taylor of Newport News, VA, and Peter, Matthew, and Ashley Tata of Gloucester Point, VA; and two great-grandchildren Eli Broom and Camden Taylor of Chesapeake, VA.

She is also survived by her wonderful brothers and sister-in-laws, Thomas Marr of Yorktown, VA, Carolyn Marr of Hampton, VA, Caroline Marr of Yorktown, VA, Bobbie Marr of New Bern, NC, Philip and Marilyn Marr of Ocean Springs, MS; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Faye was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who left many cherished memories for her family.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 11 a.m. to noon at Peninsula Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at noon. A burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Faye’s name.
