Peggy Trant

On July 15, 2024, Peggy Trant joined her husband, James “Shep” Trant, in eternal love. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Newport News, Virginia, and employed by Abbitt Management for over 26 years. Family was everything to Peggy, and she was the most happy while cheering on her grandchildren from the stands of the baseball fields and basketball courts.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Kelly; son-in-law Jason Kelly; grandson Brandon Kelly; and granddaughter Drew Kelly.

We will celebrate Peggy and Shep’s reunion in eternal love on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Riverside Hospital at 500 J. Clyde Morris Blvd or a local high school athletic program.

My heart just aches and is broken to have lost my dear friend Peggy. She was a loving soul and everyone would feel that whenever she was around. On numerous occasions she would take the time to hear me talk of my struggles and lift me up with her kind words. Peggy was a very private person but spoke often about how she dearly missed life with her husband and never missed a chance to talk about her family especially her grandchildren and how very much she loved them and how much joy they brought her. Peggy will be dearly missed by all that knew her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and pray that the Lord will bring some peace and comfort to them during this difficult time. I will miss you my friend.

My Colleague, my confidant … Peggy. I called you “the fixer” because you were there for everyone. No matter what…you would always say… “I got you!” You had everyone’s back! Your loyalty is BAR NONE. We laughed so much in the office, I would have you in stitches! You once surprised me with a hand made sign that said “Less is more…” because you knew how to navigate through difficulties – never letting anyone see you sweat. You were a PRO and I learned a lot from you. Thank you… Thank you for the memories, thank you for always listening to me, thank you for always being there. Thank you for sharing your family. I watched your grandchildren grow up through your love for them, the pictures, the stories, the sports outings. Always there. Oh how you loved your family. Thank you for allowing me to share my family with you too… you watch THEM grow and comforted ME at every stage of their life. It’s hard to swallow the fact that you’re gone. I’ll miss you my friend… I’ll see you again (God willing) when I get to heaven. I Love you. Alicia- ✨❤️🌸
