Jimmy Langston

LANEXA, VA – Jimmy Langston, 88, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, with his wife, Betty, by his side.

As a boy, he spent his days on a tobacco farm in Wilson, NC, and his teenage years were spent learning the trade of carpentry. He served 2 years in the Army, where he was a rifle marksman but dedicated his life’s work to carpentry. He spent over 30 years in the construction industry at WM Jordan Company. During his tenure there, he supervised projects from all genres of the construction industry. His favorite project was working on the Library at Regent University in 1989. He also built the family home in Lanexa and his river house in Mathews, and he helped with his son’s family home in Lanexa. 

He professed his faith at the age of 88. We rejoice in knowing that he will be in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Magdalene and Edgar Langston; his brother Dillon; and recently, his sister Shirley Parker and her husband JT (both in 2023), all of Wilson, NC. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Betty, of 60 years; his son Tim (Leigh Anne) and grandson Hunter (Leah) of Lanexa; and his niece Joy (Keith) Cobb of Wilson, NC. He was also known as Papa to Tracy Grieboski and Stacy Hines.

On Saturday, July 20th, the family will receive guests at Smith Memorial Baptist Church, 6515 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., service will begin at 12 p.m., and a reception will follow.
