Sherri Lynn Strickland
Sherri Lynn Strickland, age 50, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 1, 2024. She was courageous and joyful as she endured her battle with cancer.
She was born on March 2, 1974, in Marietta, Georgia, the daughter of John Strickland and Carolyn Eshelman. Sherri graduated from York County High School in June 1992. She then attended DeKalb Technical Institute and completed the program of study in Surgical Technology in September 1998. She worked in the field for approximately 20 years.
Sherri was a loving and compassionate person who loved to be silly. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your soul. Her favorite place was sitting on the beach, watching the majesty of the waves and especially watching the little sandpipers run along the shore. She loved all animals, but most of all, her dog, Finley.
Sherri loved the Lord with all her heart and was an active church member. She trusted in the Lord throughout her illness. What an example she was for all of us!
She is survived by her grandmother, Catherine DeLois Berry; her parents, John M. Strickland and Carolyn B. Eshelman; two sisters, Kimberly Humphries and Elizabeth Riopelle and husband Brian Riopelle; one brother, Andrew Eshelman and wife Michelle Eshelman; her nieces, Lauren and Kate; nephews, Alex, Fain, Kyle, Wesley, and Walker; two great nephews, Xander and James.
A graveside service will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park on June 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Hampton Roads Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3400 Kecoughtan Road, Hampton, VA. 23661

One of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. Blessed to have known her and her sweet soul.
It saddens me to see this so late. My heart breaks for your loss, but also rejoices knowing she was true to her faith. Love and miss you bunches. Sherry, you will forever hold a place in my heart. Sherry was one of the sweetest most kindest of people I know.
Sherri Strickland, my dear friend, that I met while working at BGO. She has the most beautiful soul and unwavering faith & had a profound impact on my life and my faith. Though my heart is heavy, I find comfort in knowing she is now in a place of eternal peace and joy, where God’s love shines brighter than ever. One of the last things Sherri text me: “Our God is an amazing God and he is the great physician.” I was so blessed to know her and have her in my life. ❤️🙏🏻
Sweet Sherri was always such a true friend to me. One of the best, most genuine people I have ever met and I thank God that ours paths crossed, I will cherish the memories.
We loved Sherri, and her love for the Lord was real. She was always so thoughtful and caring of others and was always there if you needed a listening ear or a word of encouragement.
She is now at peace and waiting for her Savior💜
What a wonderful, kind and loving person.

I will treasure our talks, tears, and prayers forever!

Sherri was a joy to be around. A good soul gone too soon. I worked with her in Lexington Kentucky and I was blessed to have known her.

I knew Sherri when we worked together at Baptist in the OR in Lexington. I thought Sherri’s personality couldn’t possibly be that bubbly, but I was wrong! Sherri had an extremely infectious personality where you just enjoyed being around her! I’m not much of a hugger but Sherri made sure you got your daily morning hug whether you wanted it or not! How could you not love a person like that? Vivacious and full of love and life! We who knew and worked with her will surely miss her. She was such a joy.

My heart breaks for those who knew her. I did not,but my daughter Elizabeth Weaver did. She is now whole, healed and so happy.
