Miriam Courtney White Daniels
On April 24, 2024, Miriam Courtney White Daniels, widow of James A. Daniels Jr., passed peacefully with family by her side.
She is survived by two children, Scott Daniels and Susan McNamara (husband Jack); four grandchildren, Courtney Livesay (husband Brad), Ashby Daniels (wife Beth), Shelton Daniels (wife Jennifer), and Elizabeth McNamara; eight great-grandchildren, Hailey and Ashton Livesay, Emory, Turner, Teagan, Parker, Savannah Daniels, and Danny Purser; and nephews Robert and Steve Daniels.
Miriam was a native of Newport News, Virginia, and a graduate of Morrison High School and Riverside School of Nursing. Her nursing career prepared her for life as a nurturing mother and wife, and she was the true matriarch and the glue that held the family together. She was compassionate and kind to all who knew her. Her quick wit and sense of humor often kept all in stitches, and we were curious to see what words would come tumbling from her mouth next. She was a woman of faith and prayer, though she rarely attended church.
Miriam was a good cook who hated cooking. She enjoyed fresh-cut flowers, a cigar, champagne, wine, an occasional dirty joke, and classical music. Miriam lived her life as she died with grace, beauty, humor, and elegance. She chose her summer house (her favorite place on earth) in Gloucester Point, Virginia, where she would depart this life and begin a new life after death. Miriam loved to be surrounded by her family, and thanks to her family, she could spend her last moments surrounded by many friends, family, laughter, and Love for her final Good Bye.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601. A reception will follow in Gloucester Point, VA, hosted by the family.

Although I only knew Miriam for a short while, I thought so much of her. She was the sweetest lady, with an infectious smile, and a fast wit! I will truly miss her, as will all that knew her. May family and friends find peace in the precious memories of her!
