Tammy Renae Childress
Tammy Renae Childress, formerly known as Tammy Cotton, gained her Angel wings and passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 44. She was born on September 19, 1979, at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. Tammy was a beloved homemaker who cherished her family dearly.
Tammy was educated at The Governor’s School for the Arts and Ocean Lakes High School and furthered her studies with an Associate Degree at the University of Phoenix. She will be remembered for her love for her family and the joy she brought to those around her.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Childress, and children Jonathon, Morgan, and Phoebe. Tammy is also survived by her parents, John and Pauline Cotton, siblings Tiffany Meece (Christopher), Patrece Corpening (Steel), Phillip Cotton, Anthony Cotton (Stephanie), and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kinsey Mae.
A memorial service to honor and remember Tammy will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 1:00 at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Virginia.
May she rest in peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

I love and miss you so very much. I have needed you to talk to. To hug. Im going to miss you dearly. You were my best friend. My daughter’s godmother. Everyday I wake up, praying this is just a bad dream. And then cry all over again. Pheobe, jon, Morgan, and Matt, please let me know if you need anything. I’m so heartbroken about this. She was such a beautiful soul. Taken too soon. I am only just now seeing this or I would’ve gone to the memorial. My heart and prayers are with her family.

Omg,I just saw this.Tammy was an amazing woman.When I worked at Heritage, I met her.We had many things in common. Caint believe your not here anymore.But I truly believe that the love we all have for you will never end.It lives and stays in the heart like a faithful friend.Fly free my beautiful friend.
