Sheila C. Rubin passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 90. A native of Atlanta, Ga., she was a resident of Newport News for over 70 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For 30 years, Sheila owned and operated The Village Stitchery in Hilton Village.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Harvey S. Rubin, who stood by her side through the joys and challenges of life. Sheila is also survived by her loving sons, Alan Rubin (Susie) and Steven Rubin; her grandchildren, Melisa Gray (Bradley), Jay and Ryan Rubin, and Jennifer Rosensteel (Lee); and Sheila’s three great-grandchildren, Lilian, Levi, and Zoe. She is also survived by her sister Dianne M. Chereton.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, December 22nd, 2023, at the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
