It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our most precious and cherished mother, Diane C. Wood, 81, on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.  She was born in Michigan but spent most of her life in Newport News.  Diane held various positions with Bank of America for ten years until she retired as a branch operations manager.

Diane was a very loving, caring, and strong woman.  She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where she especially enjoyed her Sunday school class.  Diane loved seeing new places, traveling with family and friends, visiting the beach, and spending time with her children and grandson.  She made a loving home for her family and extended her brand of sweet hospitality to everyone she met.  Diane will be truly missed by everyone who knew her and loved her so much.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James A. Wood, and her parents, Edward and Lucille Creighton.   She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Karen L. Wood;  son, James A. Wood, Jr.; grandson, Joseph A. Amato; two sisters, Edna Morikawa and Donna Merritt;  and brother, William Creighton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.. at Peninsula Funeral Home.  A funeral service with Pastor Wes Taylor officiating will take place on Wednesday, October 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
