Myrtle Panther Seay, “Honey” 86, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2023. She was born in Mecklenburg County, Va. to Jake and Nellie Panther.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Elbert E. Seay, her parents, her granddaughter Katie Lynn Seay, and siblings Bettie Goode and Jimmie Panther.

She leaves to cherish her memory, son Michael E. Seay, daughter Lisa and husband Keith Dotson, 3 grandchildren Justin and his wife Marissa, Samantha, and her husband Michael Hopper, Joe Dotson and Caroline Brandt. 5 Great Grandchildren, JonWayne, Beckett, Jesse, Belle, and Abel. Siblings, Frank Panther Sr., Jake Panther Jr. wife Cathy, Christine, and husband Julius Hite. Goddaughter Christina Shawen and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Myrtle was a wonderful, kind, and loving nurse at Riverside Hospital for 45 years, where she was awarded 15 Ruby Ambassador pins, 1, 2, and 3 Diamond service pins. In 1992 she was awarded Riverside’s prestigious “Nurse of the Year pin.

After retiring she was able to travel, going on a European tour, Alaskan Cruise, Hawaii, and many more. She enjoyed yard sales, festivals, and music events.

Prior to her illness, Myrtle was a devoted member of Newport News Church of the Nazarene, 29 Harpersville Rd. Pastor Camelot Shuff will conduct her going-home services on June 24th at 2 pm.

Burial Services will be at Bethel Baptist Church in Skipwith, Va., on June 25th at 2 pm, Julius Hite will officiate.
