Delores Beatrice Powell, 84, went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2022.

She was born June 13, 1938, to the late Linwood Williams and Mary Williams and raised in Newport News, VA most of her life. Delores did not want to live anywhere else; she loved Virginia. She attended the Huntington High School where she graduated with honors and the Stratford Career Institute in Florist & Floral Design which was one of her favorite pastimes.

Delores worked as a sales associate many years until her illness caused her to stop and care for her disabled daughter to whom she devoted her life. She gave her life to Christ many years ago and cared for many of the family members including grandkids and great grandchildren even when she was barely able too; she made it work.

Delores leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Yvette Powell; son, Freddie Powell; grandson, Milo Powell; granddaughter, Tamika Powell McCrae; sisters, Harriet Williams, Barbara Knight; brother Lenny Williams and nephew; Jeffery Edwards; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Xzavion Tremont, Ethan, Jerren, Jerron and a host of other family, friends, and relatives.

A memorial service will be held in her honor, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 902 Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23602, on Saturday, August 27, at 11am.

The Powell Family expresses sincere appreciation for all acts of kindness and comfort extended during our time of grief. The prayers, cards flowers, phones calls, and visits are a blessing to the family and much appreciated.
