Kathleen “Kathi” Marie Humphrey Shields of Hampton, Virginia, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, July 21, 2022. Kathi was born in Fort Devens, Massachusetts, and grew up living all over the world as an Army brat (Born Resilient and Tough), before settling in Virginia.

While her family and friends are saddened by her death, they are thankful for her life. Kathi was a 1978 graduate of Kecoughtan High School. She lived life very much on her own terms. She loved turtles, collecting antiques, and adored her friends and all animals.
Kathi is survived by the true pride and joy of her life, her son Zachery Shields of Waynesboro Va. She loved her son with all her heart and was so proud of the man he has become serving in the U.S. Army; her mother,   Alma Humphrey (John Rasanon) of  Yorktown, Virginia; father,  Ray Humphrey of Englewood, Florida; twin sister Kim Humphrey (Ted Speas);  twin sister and brother Kelly Humphrey and Kris Humphrey of Virginia;  sister Kyle Humphrey of California;   Aunt Sharon Bushor of Vermont; and Uncle Gerald Humphrey (Jackie) of California.

In her last days, Kathi shared that she was excited to reunite with Mark Shields and rejoiced as she discussed joining her grandmothers in Heaven playing scrabble.

The family will hold a private family ceremony now and a Celebration of Life will be held in September. She will be buried in Massachusetts near her grandparents.
