Nancy Ward Hall, “Bootsie”, 91, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. Born in Newport News, Virginia, and growing up on the Eastern Shore, she was a lifelong Virginia resident and a Yorktown resident since 2003. Nancy found her calling in life at a young age; at 18, she enrolled in the Riverside School of Nursing earning her R.N. She joined the team at Riverside Hospital where she took care of countless patients; from the Cardiac Care Unit to One Day Surgery. After 36 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1995. However, Nancy, being the ultimate nurse and caretaker, missed her patients and the hospital hustle and bustle. She left retirement and went back to Riverside in One Day Surgery, devoting another 5 years. Finally in 2001, she hung up her stethoscope, to travel with Ferd and spend more time with her family. Nancy enjoyed travelling from seeing Notre Dame in France to driving cross country with Ferd where she got up close and personal with a buffalo in Yellowstone. Nancy had quite the sweet tooth; she always ordered dessert. It’s fitting her legacy includes a fudge recipe that is close to impossible to recreate.

Bootsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred “Ferd” Hall of 69 years. She is survived by her son, Daniel G. Hall and his wife, Angela, of Yorktown, VA, her granddaughter, Kinsey L. Hall of Newport News, VA; many very special nephews and nieces, Dennis W. Ivey, Sr. and his wife Merle, Dennis W. Ivey Jr. and his wife Karen, and Katey I. Rott and her husband Greg, all of Williamsburg, VA; Kelly I. Ripley and her husband, Dan, of Hampton, VA, and Jodi I. Swindle and her husband Jay, Jackson T. Swindle, and Samuel D. Swindle all of Rockwall, TX, and a host of other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
