On February 15, 2022, James R. Gouin was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a native of Massachusetts and raised in the Catholic faith. James made his home in Virginia after serving in the United States Air Force. He worked as an Engineer at Alcoa Howmet for 30 years before retiring. James was able to build and repair almost anything that broke or just needed to be patched up.

James was a devoted husband and excellent father. Family was extremely important to James. He taught his daughters and grandchildren the importance of family, keeping your word, loyalty to family and friends, and always doing the right thing.

James was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Gouin, Sr.; mother, Lucy C. Gouin; brother, Robert C. Gouin, Jr.; and sister, Leslie Commier. He is survived by his wife, June Gouin; daughters, Jill Wallace and Joy Henderson (William H. Jr.); grandchildren, Morgan Wallace, Kallan Henderson, Kiera Henderson, and Ava Henderson; sisters, Cheryl Brander (Eric) and Marcia O’Brien; and twelve nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
