Dennis L. Terry, 55, of Newport News, VA passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.   He was born on January 10, 1967, to Clarence and Loretta Terry in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended Denbigh High School.  After graduation, he worked at Calspan Systems for over 28 years.

Dennis was a loving, caring person and devoted husband. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Jinju, playing golf, being a part of the fishing club, talking and laughing with his co-workers at Calspan Systems, and sharing time with family and friends. One of his many achievements was becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest achievement attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Dennis, a person of strong character, truly embodied the traits of an Eagle Scout. He was someone that valued perseverance, discipline, motivation, leadership, accountability, and achievement. Dennis’ zest for life will be remembered with love long after his passing.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father Clarence Terry, sister Debbie Gayer, brother John Terry, and his furry best friend/child Jinju.  

He is survived by his loving wife Okyon Terry; mother Loretta Terry; sister Cynthia Shirey; sister-in-law Barbara Terry;  brother-in-law John Gayer;  nephews Mitchell Shirey, Matthew Shirey, and Christopher Terry;  and great-nephews Andrew Shirey, and Dean Shirey.

The family will have a private family viewing Monday, January 24, from 6 – 7:00 pm at Peninsula Funeral Home.  A funeral service for everyone to attend will be held Tuesday, January 25, at 3 p.m. at St. Jerome Catholic Church.  The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.
