Mike Conway, 74, of Newport News, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family, who loved him deeply. He was born on April 20, 1947, in Newport News, VA, and was a 1965 graduate of York High School.
Mike retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 34 years of service.

He loved attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events and encouraging them in their games. Mike will also be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, love of family, and obsession with his car.

Preceding him in rest are his parents, Hubert and Alyce Conway. Surviving members of his family include his loving wife of 48 years, Shelia; son, Todd; daughter, Nicky Sundeen (Scott); grandchildren, Ashlyn, Tyler, and Nathan. Also, surviving are his brothers, Gary and Marion (Virginia); niece, Melissa; brother-in-law, Ricky Thomas (DeAnne) and family; and his beloved pup, Cody who was constantly by his side.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings. A private family graveside service will be held in Peninsula Memorial Park.  
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity in Mike’s name.
