Joyce Sue Legare, 82, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 10:12 pm while surrounded by her family.  Joyce Legare, lovingly known as Titty or Sue, was born on March 14, 1939, to the late Harold Green and Janice Brown in Hollywood, South Carolina.

After growing up and attending grade school together, Joyce was united in holy matrimony to Jake Legare, Jr. on July 5, 1959.  This union was blessed with six children.  She spent her career years as a licensed practical nurse and enjoyed serving the elderly community.  In addition, Joyce was a homemaker and took pride in raising her family. She worshipped faithfully at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Joyce is together again with her beloved “Big Guy” of 61 years (Jake) and leaves behind to cherish her memories her children:  Janice (Antonio), Jay, Joyce, Jake Legare III, Jane Amanda (Michael), and Juvon (Samuel); eight grandchildren: Nastassia (Anthony), Chalka (Shaunese), Jake, Gabrielle, Brandon, Sarah, Henry and Zachary; and two great-granddaughters: Krystel and Corinne.  She will also be missed by her siblings: Eva Mae (the late Richard), Irma, Kenneth (Johnnie Mae), Dorethea, and Patricia (the late Samuel), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 9 at 1:30 pm, followed by a going home celebration at 2:00 pm at at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Vi4ginia the funeral home.  The CDC highly recommends masks for inside gatherings.
