Lula Mae Lilley Wooten
Lula Mae Wooten, 89, passed away on September 4, 2021. She was born May 15, 1932 to the late Walter Herman Lilley and Sadie L. Langley Lilley in Fountain, North Carolina. She married William Amos Wooten on October 6, 1949. They later relocated to Newport News in 1954, where Mrs. Wooten worked for G.C. Murphy Company for 28 years. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Lula Mae was preceded in death by her husband, William Amos, one great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild, seven sisters, and two brothers. She is survived by her son, William “Charlie” Wooten and his wife, Michelle of Windsor, Va.; daughter, Ruth C. London of Miami Florida; daughter, Brenda L. Solomon of Prospect, Tennessee; brother, William Lilley and his wife, Patricia of Chesapeake, Va.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Parkview Baptist Church, 604 Hilton Boulevard, in Newport News. The family will receive friends following the service in the Social Hall. Vincent J. Hutchins, Sr., a dear friend of the family and caregiver of Mrs. Wooten, will serve as Honorary Pallbearer,
