Richard Clarence Wertel (Rick) 61, died unexpectedly at Advent Health in Lake Wales, Florida on May 4, 2021. He was born July 2, 1959 in Hopewell, Virginia. He graduated from Hampton High School. He studied Computer science at ECPI & graduated with honors. He was employed at Anheuser-Busch & was a former Maintenance Team Leader at Synerject. Rick was preceded in death by his brother Stephen James Wertel 1961-1985. He is survived by his wife of 17 years; Robin Phaup Wertel; daughters, Stephanie Wallace of Hampton, Jamie Elliott & Jana Croley of Williamsburg; step-sons Joel Cross of Seaford, Joshua Cross & Noah Cross of Hampton; parents, Leo & Bunny Wertel of Hampton; sisters, Peggy Fisher of Arizona & Pamela Kennedy of Hampton. He was Grandaddy Extraordinaire to 12 grandchildren & 1 great grandchild.
