Mark Travis Hartman, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 7, 2021. He was born in York County on October 18, 1967. He graduated from Tabb High School in 1986 and was a 1994 graduate of Christopher Newport University. Mark loved to sit on the front porch of his home and observe the vast wildlife that surrounded him on his six acres in New Kent County. He fed many critters and would take pictures of the visitors on his phone and send them to family and friends. He was interested in antiques and anything old, and he greatly enjoyed making the rounds to the thrift stores.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Willard L. and Mary B. Hartman; brother, Russell B. Hartman; and niece, Chrystal Hartman. He was a loving father to his son, Trevor Page Hartman, to whom he was greatly devoted, and his special cats, Panther and Pisces. He is also survived by his brothers, Cliff R. Hartman and William L. Hartman (Pam S.); sisters, Linda Eggers and Brenda West; sister-in-law, Pam L. Hartman; ten nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Mark will be greatly missed by his large family and many friends and acquaintances.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Lisa Blackmonson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., in Newport News. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Yorktown. Masks are recommended and social distancing will be required.
