David Mitchell Jennings, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, of Newport News, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2021. He was born in Galax, Virginia on June 18, 1959 and moved to Newport News, Virginia when he was 8 years old when his father began working in the Newport News Shipyard. David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, having cookouts and listening to his music. He was a loving, fun, energetic, and outgoing man who could make anyone smile and brighten up even the gloomiest of days. He loved fishing and particularly enjoyed going dancing with his wife, Joyce. He also had a fierce love for muscle cars.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce A. Jennings; parents, Roy L. and Rosa B. Jennings; brother, Ronnie L. Jennings; granddaughter, Alyssa N. Guye; and grandparents, Lester and Edith Jennings, and William E. and Mattie Royal. He is survived by his daughter, Karen R. Dotson (Jennings) and Chris; son, David M. Jennings Jr.; stepchildren, Jenny Stanley, Steven Valencia, and Elizabeth Valencia; sister, Patricia R. Jones (Jennings) and husband Curtis “Eddie”; nephews, Curtis “Butch” Jones and wife Jenny, and David L. Jones and wife Karen; and multiple uncles, aunts, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great nieces and nephews.

David will truly be missed by his family and will forever be close in our hearts.
A private “Celebration of Life” service is planned and the details will be shared when finalized.
