Frederick “Sonny” C. Johnson, Sr., 81, passed away on January 24, 2021. He was a native of Hampton, VA and a resident of Williamsburg. Sonny served two years in the U.S. Army and later became President/owner of Johnson Auto Parts, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of the Khedive Shriners.

Sonny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane A. Johnson; parents, Frank C. and Ethel L. Johnson; and brother, Coleman L. Johnson. He is survived by his son, Frederick “Butch” C. Johnson II (Trina); daughter, Jennifer “Sissy” A. Bryant; grandchildren, Hatie, Summer, John, Cody, Trevor, Sonnie, and Jack; four great-grandchildren; brothers, John Johnson (Ann) and Curtis Johnson; sisters, Shirley Williams (Sonny), Beverly Sweeney (Bobby), and Ethel Carmines (Ted); and close friend and caregiver, Cheryl Montgomery.

The family wishes to thank Kelly Gilbert with Riverside Health System for her care and support.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Peninsula Memorial Park. Guests are required to wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.
