Mary L. Nicholls, 87, passed away at home on Thursday, January 14, 2021.  She was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, on December 26, 1933 and moved to Newport News in 1954.  Mary retired from Sears & Roebuck after many years of service.  Following her retirement from Sears she worked at Busch Gardens for over 25 years.  She was a lifelong member of the Warwick Yacht & Country Club which she dearly loved.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Nicholls.  She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Burcher, and her husband Steve, and her grandson, Bradley Burcher, all of Newport News.

A heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice and their staff, Gale Burcher, Natalie Krebs, Emma Krebs, Sue Johnson, Bradley Burcher, and Julie Blake for their care and support.

A private interment will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
