Hugh Thomas Winslow II

Hugh Thomas Winslow II, 65, of Yorktown died 5th of May 2023 after losing his battle with liver cancer.

Hugh was born in Terre Haute and grew up in Evansville, IN. He was the son of the late Hugh T. Winslow, Sr., and was also predeceased by his son Adam.

Hugh graduated from Central High School in Evansville IN, in 1975; received a BS in Engineering Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1980; and his master’s in engineering from Central Washington University in 2004. He worked for the Boeing Company in Wichita KS and Renton WA; Beech Aircraft in Wichita; and Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding. 

Hugh was an avid Disc Golfer and lifelong motorsports fan. While living in the Pacific Northwest, he earned a National Corner Workers license. Hugh worked in many amateur and pro races on the West Coast.

Left to cherish their memories, are his wife of 40 years, Anne; his son, Ian; his mother, Carol Winslow; and his sister Wendy Cox and her husband Jim.

Friends are invited to come and share their memories of Hugh at an informal memorial visitation, which will be held Friday, May 12, 6 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to National Public Radio (NPR.org).

    Hugh was one of the first people I worked with when I came to HII. We became great email and phone friends over the years. His encouragement and good natured vibe was infectious. I miss him. Prayers to his wife and family.
