Wayne Edward Woodson, age 79, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021. Wayne was born in Mount Airy, NC, the son of the late Lewis and Nannie Woodson. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a devoted grandfather. He always had an infectious smile and laugh that filled the room. Wayne was a friend to anyone he met and will be missed by all who knew him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey Woodson; their daughter, Patsy Gillespie; and his brother Robert Woodson. He is survived by his sister Nelta Renegar, his son, John Woodson (Karen), and their daughters; AnnJacob Woodson, Caroline Woodson, and Mary Katherine Woodson; his son-in-law, John Gillespie, and his children; Karly Blankenship (Jeff) and their daughter Juliet; Cory Gillespie (Davina) and their daughter Braelyn; and his step-grandson Brian Gillespie (Katie) and their children Tanner, Lauren, and Landon; his brother-in-law Buddy Sutphin; and a group of loving neighbors, turned friends, turned family.

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery conducted by Reverend Tammy L. Estep.
